EXTREME MAINE WHITEWATER RAFTING TRIPS
If you’re looking for a bigger whitewater rafting challenge, check out these specialized trips.
Kennebec River – Turbine Test
Mark your calendars for these 2010 extreme releases of 8,000 cfs on the Kennebec River:
June 19, July 5, September 11 and September 25
The turbines inside Harris Station on the Kennebec River will crank out the maximum possible 8,000 cubic feet per second of water this summer! Since the average release is 4,800 cfs this is whitewater seen by few.
This water level means huge compression waves crash against the gorge walls and move on down river at an incredible clip. The guides take a different line down the river aiming for waves and holes that can only be run at this higher level.
It’s extreme whitewater at its best! Reserve now for these popular trips.
Kennebec River – Six Person Wonder Bug Rafts
Our smaller 6-person Wonder Bug rafts are designed for a bigger ride and maximum rush. These narrow, high-profile boats sit a maximum of 7 guests but can be reserved for as little as 4 guests. The Wonder Bug is available any day on the Kennebec or Dead Rivers. A minimum $15/person surcharge over the standard trip price is added for a Wonder Bug reservation.
Penobscot River – Double the Excitement
Like the upper river on the Penobscot best? Then double your action on a Double Dip trip. On a Double Dip you raft the technical, Class III-V rapids on the upper section twice in one day.
Exterminator, Cribworks, Amberjack – twice in one day. The ultimate!
