Discover our world where cribbage, card games, relaxation and good conversation push aside electronic entertainment and the demands of your daily routine.

Our wilderness overnight camping trip is our signature trip.  It gets raves!  Imagine yourself relaxing on a secluded island, watching the blazing sunset and reminiscing around the campfire with friends and family.  This rafting trip takes the rough out of roughing it!

Maine Camping Adventures

Our 2-day wilderness camping trip combines one day of whitewater rafting and one day of Funyaking with a night camping out on Big Island. With a minimum of six, this trip is available seven days a week.  You’ll have exclusive access to our pebble beach, private dock and Funyaks for touring the lake at dusk.  During the evening you can take a walk on the water’s edge or kick back in front of the campfire.

Star gazers wanted!  Our guides do all the cooking and make sure your camping adventure is comfortable.  In the morning you rise to the scent of pine trees and a warm, freshly brewed cup of coffee.  This whitewater rafting trip is the perfect blend of wilderness and pampering.

This affordable trip is all-inclusive: deluxe tents, sleeping pads, shuttle transportation and four hearty meals including a lobster cookout with hand-cranked ice cream and freshly baked strawberry shortcake.  No experience is required and the minimum age is 8.  With 6 people you can secure a trip.  If your group is smaller than 6 we can likely hook you up with a trip already scheduled.  Arrangements can made for individuals who cannot participate in both days.  Extended white water rafting trips can be arranged for up to 6 days.  These trips may include a combination of hiking, canoeing and white water rafting.

Note:  Overnight wilderness camping trips are available only in Maine.

EXAMPLE ITINERARY: 2-DAY KENNEBEC RIVER OVERNIGHT TRIP

maine kayaking trip in Funyaks

On the first day you meet at 8:30 a.m. where you'll pack your gear and meet your guides.  We then transport you via logging road — where spotting moose, deer and fox are common — to our launch on the East Outlet. Here we’ll embark in sit-on-top Funyaks and small 4-person rafts. We’ll paddle moderate rapids and three miles later land at Ledge Falls where we’ll surf the pools and drops beneath the falls. We’ll have a riverside cold cut picnic lunch and then connect the rafts for a relaxed motorized tow across Indian Pond. Spotting osprey and loons on this section is likely (and possibly a bald eagle). When we arrive at Big Island, our tents are already set up on sturdy platforms and the central social & campfire area is open for board games and good conversation. During the afternoon you can explore the island trail through the magnificent pines, search for driftwood & fossils, swim at the pebble beach or relax on our private dock. As the afternoon wanes we serve hor d’oeuvres and beverages. Later, a roaring campfire is built and the guides serve up a hearty dinner. The menu usually features fresh Maine lobster, baked potatoes and a fresh garden salad. The guides also carefully bake a dutch oven shortcake. The highlight of the evening is everyone taking a turn cranking the old-fashioned ice cream maker to produce creamy vanilla ice cream. The strawberry shortcake dessert topped with homemade ice cream gets raves!  The evening finishes with campfire stories and a star-filled sky.

The next morning you arise to the scent of pine trees and freshly brewed coffee. The guides prepare a hearty breakfast of blueberry pancakes, toasted english muffins, fresh scrambled eggs and orange juice. We then pack up and motor across to the south end of the lake where we’ll begin the exciting 12 mile descent of the Kennebec River Gorge in large rafts. Your paddling power and the guide’s steering will lead you through these exhilarating Class II-IV rapids. We will stop along the river at a hidden waterfall or beach for a snack. As the river widens on the lower half it is ideal for water fighting, joke telling and swimming in the river. We will return to the basecamp around 2:30 p.m. and partake in a full course BBQ lunch. After lunch your trip is capped off with a picture and/or video show of your rafting trip on the famous Kennebec River. This laughter-filled show leaves you with memories of a lifetime of your 2-day rafting adventure to Maine!
